JSE provided scoping, alternate alignment analysis/study, road, bridge, maintenance of traffic, utility coordination and traffic design services for the $15 million SR 39 over White River bridge replacement project on the northwest side of Martinsville, Indiana. The project included the reconstruction of the SR 39 and SR 67 intersection. JSE prepared a Comprehensive Alignment Study and Hydraulic Analysis Report to determine the best, most cost effective and least impact alignment/location for the new bridge. JSE determined that the most feasible and cost beneficial alignment was to construct the new SR 39 bridge to the south of and parallel to the existing SR 39 bridge. JSE’s hydraulic analysis of the existing channel determined that the existing 1074’ long 12 span bridge over the White River could be replaced with a new six span bridge structure with fewer piers and less obstructions for boating traffic. The replacement bridge consisted of 6 lines of 86” deep steel plate girders on caps supported on multi-columns/shafts with debris walls.
Services provided by JSE on this project included: project scoping, utility coordination, road and bridge design, bridge structure size and type analysis, plan review, construction engineering, hydraulic analysis and bridge modeling, permitting, public hearing presentations, resource agency coordination, traffic signal design and traffic signing design.
